The Story
These are terrific verses, and it’s no wonder they’ve been set to music multiple times already. So, one more can’t hurt… surely?
But what does the writer means when he says “God is my portion”?
The language appears several times in the Old Testament (see Psalm 73:26 especially), and speaks of God giving us His very self! We need look nowhere else for our equipping or sustaining. He does not give us tools, or advice. Rather, He gives us Himself! He is our reward. He is our inheritance. He is our Prize!
