Isn't He Good!
Zephaniah 3:17
Lyrics
Verse 1
We have a God whose love is unfailing
We have a God whose promise is sure
We have got a Saviour
And isn’t He good?
We have a Friend more true than a brother
We have a Father tender and kind
We have got a Saviour
And isn’t He good?
Chorus [Zephaniah 3:17]
We have a God who is with us
Mighty to save!
Whose delight is to love us and give us
Mercy and grace
And our God is a God who delights in deliverance
Stilling His anger and singing His joy for us
Isn’t our God so good?
So Good!
Verse 2
We have a champion strong in the battle
We have His armour sure in the fight
We have got a Saviour
And isn’t He good?
We have a light to guide in the darkness
We have an anchor firm in the storm
We have got a Saviour
And isn’t He good?
Verse 3
We have a God abounding in mercy
We have a God outrageous in grace
We have got a Saviour
And isn’t He good?
We have a God who paid for our pardon
We have a God who sent His own Son
We have got a Saviour
And isn’t He good?
Final Chorus
We have a God who is with us
Mighty to save!
Whose delight is to love us and give us
Mercy and grace
And our God is a God who delights in deliverance
Stilling His anger and singing His joy for us
Isn’t our God so good?
Isn’t our God so good?
Isn’t our God so good?
So Good!

CCLI Song # 7255727
The Story
I wish I could say that this song was born out of time I had spent meditating on the prophecies of Zephaniah. But the truth is very different. I had set myself the challenge of writing an all-age song in the musical stye of The Rolling Stones. Its first iteration made use of the classic riff from “Start me Up” – but much as I loved it there’s no way I’d be able to afford or defend the lawsuit.
Though I do say so myself I really like the repeated hook “and isn’t he good!”. That simple repeated line gives even the very youngest family members a part to make their own and sing at the top of their lungs.
Stock up the air guitars, and have fun belting out this magnificent truth. “we have gt a Saviour – and isn’t He good!”
