Living Faith
Lyrics
Verse 1
Give me a faith O Lord to shape my heart
Give me a faith to fill me. Completely!
Give me a faith O Lord for each new day.
Faith that I need for action,
And to love the world in a Jesus way.
Chorus
Give me living faith to change me.
I want a faith that reaches dee.
All of head to toe for Jesus. Completely!
I want a living faith to move me.
I want to go where you might lead.
All of head to toe for Jesus
With a mountain-moving living faith in me!
Verse 2
Give me a faith to choose You, come what may
Faith that will let you use me. Completely!
Give me a faith that keeps me holding tight;
Faith that is sure and certain
That a day will come when my faith is sight!
Bridge (recorded version)
I’m done with all the faking,
I’m through with all the lies
I’m tired of faith that only runs skin-deep
You ask how you might change me –
I need my faith to rise!
I want a living faith with You at the reins
I want a mountain-moving faith in my veins
Bridge (alternate version)
You don’t want faith that’s hollow
You can’t use faith that sleeps
What use is faith that only runs skin-deep?
But faith can move a mountain
And faith can part the sea.
I want a faith like that with You at the reins
I want a mountain-moving faith in my veins
Final Chorus
Give me living faith to change me.
I want a faith that reaches dee.
All of head to toe for Jesus. Completely!
I want a living faith to move me.
I want to go where you might lead.
All of head to toe for Jesus
With a mountain-moving living faith
An every-atom-shaping living faith
An all-for-Jesus-serving
Living faith in me!

The Story
The wonderful people at Faith In Kids asked me if I’d consider writing a song to accompany their materials on the book of James. It didn’t take me long to reply with an emphatic ‘yes please!’. This is the result!
Faith In Kids have done a wonderful job with their Living Faith series. (Yes, they came up with the tile first. I rode piggyback!). Over seven sessions they explain how James helps us to grow a real practical faith. The themes and applications in this song are all purposefully lifted from their there.
I hope you like it! More importantly, I hope it serves you!
