The Story

‘Christmas’ literally begins with ‘Christ’!  

Increasingly, though, the world is embarassed about this and so prefers to replace C-H-R-I-S-T with an ‘X’.
With gorgeous irony, they fail to realise that ‘X’ here originates from the Greek letter ‘chi’ (for Christós).  Yes, X stands for Christ!

But the point of the song holds. Their ignorance of the etymology invariably leads to a wider ignorance over what – or rather whom – sits behind the real meaning of Christmas.
